Talon Shirts

Hello! I’m Talon, a 25 year old photographer with a passion for creating both digital and physical art. There is really nothing that leaves me feeling more fulfilled than seeing a project through from start to finish and I greatly enjoy problem solving and finding creative ways to achieve an end goal.

Along with photography I enjoy woodworking, crafting jewelry, surfing, camping, music, writing and pretty much anything else my curiosity may pull me towards. There are learning opportunities all around us and I try my best to get the most out of them. While some of my hobbies come and go, I find myself in a flow state more often with a camera in my hands than any other activity in my life.

I first found my passion for photography when using a waterproof camera in the ocean when I was around 13 years old. A few years later I got my first DSLR and made it my goal to learn as much as I can about the technology. Since then, I’ve graduated from college with a degree in business marketing from Cal Poly, SLO, fallen deeper in love with the outdoors, and continued to seek out new ways to express my creativity.

I fell in love with photography through landscapes and seascapes. In middle school some friends and I would ride our bikes downtown to take photos and explore all day. This was really in that prime era of 15 second instagram edits with fast cuts and overdone transitions. In high school I started filming a lot of sports. Mostly basketball from the stands with my dads vintage Zuiko Film Lenses adapted to my upgraded mirrorless M4/3 camera (Panasonic g7) at the time. While manually focusing basketball players at 70 and 100mm, f/1.8 in a gym was quite challenging, it looked wonderful and absolutely shaped my perspective as far as what I value when it comes to photography.

While I fell out of touch with photography for a bit during the beginning of college, I was propelled right back into doing some of my most proud work as my time in San Luis Obispo came to a close. I started shooting and developing my own film, made my first darkroom print, and grew interest in the physical archiving aspects of photography. It almost painful for me to stare at photos on a screen sometimes when I know how absolutely gorgeous they would be blown up on a wall.

Next steps for me include working with more brands, small businesses and like-minded artists to bring their visions to life, as well as print more photos of my own to share with the world and those around me.
